Financial aspects

  • $10 million is allocated to local projects proposing sports and physical activities and cultural and community activities that schools may submit to their school board (a regional committee will then analyze the projects selected).
  • $1 million is to be distributed among the regions to take into consideration the geographic factor and cover certain transportation costs in order to encourage the participation of more students in extracurricular activities.

In general, transportation costs can represent 10 % of the total cost of an extracurricular activities project, except for the regions of Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine (01), Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Nord-du-Québec (08) and Côte-Nord (09), where transportation can account for up to 20 % of the total project cost.

The school board will receive a budgetary enveloppe that takes into account the number of schools and students, and that factors in the proportion of students leaving school without a diploma or qualifications.
