Special Pedagogical Projects in Arts Education

A number of public and private schools have established special pedagogical projects in arts education. There are two types of projects:

• Concentration in Arts Education Projects
• Arts/Study Programs

They are designed to provide students with enriched arts education based on one of the four arts programs in the Québec Education Program:

• Drama
• Visual Arts
• Dance
• Music

These projects share the following characteristics:

• The projects have an impact on the subject-time allocation.
• With some exceptions, all of the arts education is provided at the school by qualified staff members of the school board or private school.

These projects reflect a desire to provide students with special arts instruction that will help them flourish and, in some cases, prepare them for higher education in the arts.
