École de musique Vincent-d'Indy
The École de musique Vincent-d’Indy, a welcoming institution on a human scale, has specialized in music instruction for over 80 years. Located at the foot of Mount Royal, it offers a structured educational program that is recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche.
Since its founding in 1932, the school has sought to transmit its love of music through a wide range of individual and group courses adapted for young people and adults of all ages. As part of its Musique pour tous program, the school offers high-quality practical and theoretical courses, in addition to group courses for children, who learn about music through play activities that involve proven techniques like the Jocelyne Laberge method, which is based on sound and movement. Since 1973, the school has supported a broad network of affiliated teachers. This initiative began with some of the school’s former students who, at the start of their teaching careers, prepared students to take the school’s examinations.
Today, the school’s network of affiliated teachers includes teachers from throughout Québec. It offers professional development days, training workshops, master classes and examination sessions. In addition, it organizes the annual Concours Inter-Élèves, which has over 400 participants.
