Submission of projects
Projects must be submitted to the school boards or the Direction de l’enseignement privé of the Ministère, in accordance with their terms and conditions. A model of the Project Submission Form for the Science Culture component is provided to school boards for this purpose.
For more details, teachers can contact their school principal, who can, if necessary, contact the person responsible for Culture-Education files at the school board. The principal could also contact the Direction de l’enseignement privé at the Ministère.
The teacher must properly prepare the students for the activities, in collaboration with the representative of the science resource listed in the Répertoire culture-éducation or the List of complementary organizations [available in French only]. The representative of the science organization and the school staff member responsible for the science culture workshop at the school or for the field trip to the science organization must contact each other to discuss the content and length of the activity, and the preparation and transfer-of-learning to be carried out with the students.
It should be noted that the representative(s) of the science organization may carry out activities several times for the same project and that, when carrying out a science culture project, this person or these persons in no way substitute for the teacher. Accordingly, the teacher must be present for all project activities.
Evaluation of the applications for financial assistance
A project evaluation, selection and follow-up process must be established by the school board or private school. It is up to the school board or the Direction de l’enseignement privé of the Ministère to accept or refuse project submissions.
Note that to be considered eligible, an application must show that one of the science organizations listed in the Répertoire culture-éducation or the Supplementary list of organizations [available in French only] is involved. Contact must have been made with a representative of that organization before the application is submitted. If the workshop is to be conducted by videoconference, it is recommended that audiovisual and connection checks be carried out first with each participant in order to ensure that the best possible conditions are in place.
The following criteria must be taken into account when the applications are evaluated:
- effective collaboration between the teachers and the representatives of the science organization
- the involvement of as many students as possible and their active participation throughout the project
- the relevance of the preparatory and transfer-of-learning activities associated with the project
- connections with the Québec Education Program
- diversity of funding sources
