Content
Respecting students’ development
The content was defined to meet the needs of children and adolescents while respecting their development. It was formulated in collaboration with experts in pedagogy, sexology and health, and is based on both the recommendations of experts and recent research in sexuality education.
Students will receive 5 to 15 hours of sexuality education per year, which will enable them to:
- have a better understanding of sexuality
- better understand themselves
- reflect on issues such as messages about sexuality in the public space, gender stereotypes and the use of social media
- be less vulnerable to certain problems, such as:
- sexually transmissible and blood-borne infections (STBBIs)
- discrimination based on sexual and gender diversity
- sexual assault
- unplanned pregnancies
- develop attitudes and skills that will be useful to them now and in the future (respect for diversity, self-knowledge and self-assertion, conflict resolution)
