Promoting the teaching profession
Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual event that takes place during the first week of February. It provides an opportunity to recognize the remarkable commitment of these individuals, who work toward the educational success of Quebecers of all ages and thereby contribute to the development of our society.
Teacher Appreciation Week has been celebrated in schools since 1994.
The theme for the 26th Teacher Appreciation Week, which took place from February 2 to 8, 2020, was 1 216 791 reasons to thank a teacher! This theme has been chosen because there are 1 216 791 students in Québec and just as many reasons to say “thank you.”
World Teachers' Day: October 5
Since 1994, World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated on October 5. It pays tribute to teachers in all levels of education throughout the world, and to researchers in the field of education. It is also intended to motivate governments and the people they serve to contribute sufficient financial assistance in support of teachers, and to ensure that access to education becomes a reality for the young people of today’s and tomorrow’s generations worldwide.
