Concussions
The benefits of a physically active lifestyle on physical and psychological health, and even on educational success, are well known. However, it is essential to keep in mind that practising physical activities can involve risks of injury, particularly the risk of a concussion.
When a concussion occurs, it is important to apply proven prevention and management procedures. For this to happen, parents and activity supervisors need to know their respective roles and responsibilities and be equipped to:
For this purpose, the government published the second edition of the Concussion Management Protocol in September 2019. The Concussion Management Protocol is intended for use by educational institutions and in the context of recreational and sports activities.
It is important to use this new edition, which replaces the one that was published in July 2017.
