All of the programs of study in the Languages subject area share the same goal of promoting the development of competencies in oral communication, comprehension, reading and writing. Adults learn to use communication strategies and knowledge effectively and to broaden and consolidate their repertoire of knowledge and strategies.

Social sciences

The programs of study in the Social Sciences subject area focus on essential knowledge related to citizenship, rights and responsibilities, democratic values and characteristics of a collectivity. They help adult learners construct their identities by giving them access to cultural references that allow them to become conscious of their citizenship. They help adult learners learn to look at their own opinions and values, question them and adopt a critical distance in order to assess them.
